How ClipRails works for creators
You load a budget, your own clippers work it, and every clip you approve is paid in full for the views it verifies. Approving costs nothing: a clip consumes budget once a day for the reach it has actually delivered, and what it has delivered nobody can take away by posting faster. Whatever the clips do not earn comes back to you.
The process
- 01
Fund the campaign
You write the brief and set the terms (the CPM and optionally a cap on what one clipper can earn), then load the whole budget as escrow. A campaign can only ever spend money it already holds.
- 02
Launch it to your Community
Launching opens intake. The members of your Community see the brief and the terms, cut their own clips from your material, and post them on their own channels.
- 03
Review the submissions
You approve or reject each clip against the requirements you set for the campaign. Approving costs nothing: from then on the clip consumes your CPM for the views it actually delivers, booked once a day. Reviewing slowly is what costs, because a clip only starts earning once you have let it in.
- 04
Holding windows settle
Every approved clip is counted once, at the end of its own holding window, and paid at your CPM up to what it had already consumed. Because a clip only ever consumes what it delivered, the budget you get back at the end is the budget nobody earned.
- 05
The remainder refunds itself
Once the last holding window has settled, everything the approved clips did not earn is refunded to you automatically.
The words on your campaign page
CPM
The rate paid per 1,000 verified views, counted once a clip’s holding window has passed.
Clipper cap
The most one clipper can earn in this campaign across all their clips, set by the creator in dollars and unlimited when the field is left empty.
Holding window
The wait before a clip’s views are counted, long enough for platforms to strip out fake ones, and only the count at the end of the window gets paid.
Platform fee
What ClipRails charges you for a campaign: 6% of the budget you fund, shown before you pay, and refunded in proportion to whatever budget your campaign does not spend.
Consumed budget
What your campaign has used so far: money already paid out plus what the views your clips delivered are worth at your CPM, a figure that grows daily and falls again when a platform strips views out.
Available budget
Your funded budget minus what the campaign has consumed, and at zero it reads “budget used up” and takes no new submissions until you top up.
Verified reach
Verified views on the clips a creator has approved, never capped, and what a campaign’s leaderboard ranks its clippers by.
Requirements
What the creator asks of a clip in this campaign, written in the brief and the only thing a clip is judged against, so a clip that misses them is rejected.
Draft
The campaign is still being written: the terms can change and no money is loaded yet.
Funded
The budget is loaded as escrow and the terms are frozen, but nothing is live until you launch it.
Active
The campaign is live: clips can be handed in, and once a day the budget is claimed by the reach the approved clips have actually delivered.
Closed
Intake has stopped and waiting clips are declined, but every clip already approved still runs to the end of its holding window and is paid before the rest of the budget is refunded.
Settled
Every approved clip has been paid and the unspent budget has been refunded, so the campaign is finished.
