How ClipRails works for clippers
You clip for the Communities you belong to, and every clip their creator approves is paid in full for the views it verifies. What you have already delivered is yours, and nobody takes it by posting after you. The wait that follows is only there to make the view count real.
The process
- 01
Join a creator’s Community
The creator’s page, opened from their link or found in the Communities directory, makes you a member in one click. From then on you see their active campaigns: the brief, the material to cut from, and the terms every clip is paid by.
- 02
Connect the channel you post from
Connect your YouTube, TikTok or Instagram account once, on the Connected accounts page. There is no way to submit a clip without it: you pick the clip from your own posts rather than pasting a link, which is how ClipRails knows a video is really yours and counts its views towards your payout. Instagram reports views for professional accounts only, so switch yours to Creator or Business in Instagram's settings first, which is free and reversible. Do it before you cut, not after, because it takes a minute and it never has to be done again.
- 03
Pick one of your own videos
You post the clip on your own channel, then pick it from the list of your posts, because there is no URL field. Cut it to the campaign’s requirements: the brief is what the creator reviews it against, and nothing else is.
- 04
The creator reviews it and it starts earning
Once approved, the clip claims your CPM for every thousand views it delivers, booked once a day, and what it has claimed stays yours until your holding window ends. Nobody can take it by posting faster, though the figure does fall again when a platform strips fake views back out. If the campaign runs out of budget it stops taking new clips, so check before you cut. A rejected clip earns nothing and costs nothing else, and you can submit another.
- 05
The holding window runs
Your clip keeps running while the platform strips fake views out of its count. Nothing is asked of you here; the wait is what makes the number payable.
- 06
You get paid in full
At the end of the window your verified views are counted once and paid at the campaign’s CPM, up to what the clip had already claimed. You get that amount in full, and ClipRails takes no cut of it. It is transferred on its own, with no button to press and no minimum. The bank payout out of your payout account runs once a month and carries everything above $15. If your payout account isn’t set up yet, the money waits for you as a held payout and never expires.
The words on a campaign page
CPM
The rate paid per 1,000 verified views, counted once a clip’s holding window has passed.
Clipper cap
The most one clipper can earn in this campaign across all their clips, set by the creator in dollars and unlimited when the field is left empty.
Holding window
The wait before a clip’s views are counted, long enough for platforms to strip out fake ones, and only the count at the end of the window gets paid.
Claim
What your approved clips have earned with the views they have already delivered, booked once a day and held for you until your holding window ends.
Verified reach
Verified views on the clips a creator has approved, never capped, and what a campaign’s leaderboard ranks its clippers by.
Requirements
What the creator asks of a clip in this campaign, written in the brief and the only thing a clip is judged against, so a clip that misses them is rejected.
Payout account
The Stripe account ClipRails transfers your money to, set up once and whenever you like, and until it is ready what you earn is held for you and never expires.
Bank payout
The monthly step that carries what has gathered on your payout account on to your own bank, taking everything above $15.
Transferred
Money that has actually landed in your payout account, as against what is still held for a missing account or still claimed by a clip whose holding window is running.
Held payout
Money you have earned that has not been transferred yet because your payout account is not ready, and it never expires while it waits.
Under review
The creator has not looked at this clip yet, so nothing is decided and it earns nothing until they do.
Approved
The creator accepted your clip, so it earns your CPM for every thousand views it delivers once it has passed the reach a clip needs, and the figure falls again when a platform strips views back out, all the way to nothing if that drops it under that reach.
Rejected
This clip missed the campaign’s requirements, so it never started earning and costs you nothing else.
Paid
The holding window has passed and your verified views were counted once and paid at the campaign’s CPM, up to what this clip had already claimed.
Payout failed
This clip earned its money and the transfer did not go through, so the amount stays yours in full and ClipRails sends it again.
No payout
At the end of the holding window this clip stayed under the verified reach a clip has to deliver before it earns anything, so there was nothing to pay at the campaign’s CPM.
Submit a clip
You pick one of your own videos from a connected account and send it in, and it earns nothing until the creator looks at it.
Creator reviews
The creator checks your clip against the campaign’s requirements, and once approved it earns your CPM for every view it delivers.
Full payout
When the holding window ends your verified views are counted once and paid at the campaign’s CPM in full, with no cut taken.
Active
The campaign is live: clips can be handed in, and once a day the budget is claimed by the reach the approved clips have actually delivered.
Closed
Intake has stopped and waiting clips are declined, but every clip already approved still runs to the end of its holding window and is paid before the rest of the budget is refunded.
Settled
Every approved clip has been paid and the unspent budget has been refunded, so the campaign is finished.
